Due to hate crimes rising in number during the pandemic, the B.C. Office of the Human Rights Commissioner now takes public submissions via an online survey.
The OHRC is hoping that members of the public will feel comfortable enough to share what they’ve experienced on this survey, which takes submissions in several languages.
It was also noted by the office how important it is to hear about these crimes from the victims themselves, even if they did not tell the police about it.
This survey was launched after a poll from last December revealed that 26 percent of 800 BC adults had either seen or been impacted by a hate crime since the pandemic started.
All members of the public can now report a hate incident to the commission’s public reporting website.
The survey can be found here
