Erin O’Toole is out as the head of the Conservative Party of Canada, following a vote held this morning.
Yesterday, the party announced an impromptu leadership review, after O’Toole’s moderate stances aggitated a number of party members.
A total of 118 out of 119 Conservative MPs took part in the vote, which resulted in a 73-45 tally in favour of stripping O’Toole of the party leadership.
O’Toole will, however, retain his seat as Conservative MP for the Durham riding in Ontario, which he has been elected to 4 times.
Many conservatives were critical of O’Toole’s handling of the election, saying he ran for leadership on a platform of traditional conservative values, but shifted to a more moderate approach during the election cycle.
