Staff and contractors working for the Peace River South School District will be required to be vaccinated against Covid-19, or submit to regular testing.
During a closed meeting, held last Wednesday, District 59’s Board voted to implement a proof of vaccination procedure.
That decision was made based on guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health, with local data, infection rates, and absences used to further advise the measures.
Employees will be required to provide proof of full vaccination, or consent to routine rapid testing as a condition to work.
Those who do not provide proof of vaccination or agree to testing will be placed on a leave of absence, without pay.
According to the Board, the procedure is being implemented as soon as possible, and will be in place until June 30th.
Some exceptions may be made to accommodate those with legal and medical exemptions.
