Despite many truckers making the lengthy trip from the west coast to Ottawa in order to protest newly installed vaccination mandates for truckers, the Federal Government stated that they will not be budging on their stance.
Back on January 15th, new mandates went into effect, requiring that all truck drivers need to be vaccinated if they want to cross the Canada-US border without any kind of delay.
A joint statement that was put out earlier today that included multiple government officials such as Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan, Transport Minister Omar Alghabra and even the Canadian Trucking Alliance’s president Stephen Laskowski, and it continued to hammer home the government’s message, saying that the vaccines are the best way to lessen COVID’s spread and help protect public health.
However, the truckers, who are apparently calling themselves the freedom convoy, are still making their way to Parliament Hill to voice their displeasure with the mandates and they’re expected to put on a demonstration this weekend.
