An LNG project planned for Kitimat is on track to submit an Environmental Assessment application sometime next month.
Cedar LNG is a proposed floating LNG facility planned to operate directly across the Douglas Channel from Kitimaat Village.
Earlier this week, the project’s application received screening approval to be submitted for detailed review.
However, the provincial-level screening did reveal a few areas of the application which could be expanded upon in the final application.
Those include: assessment and mitigation of air quality impacts, acoustic impacts, effects from project related marine activities, management plans, local infrastructure impacts, and impacts on community well-being.
In addition, the screening suggests they incorporate the results of a Gitga’at report in to the project, as well as some other suggestions.
According to the screening report, Cedar LNG plans to submit it’s application to the Environmental Assessment Office for detailed review next month.
