After a staffing shortage prompted an extended winter break, students at Hazelton Secondary School are returning to classes today.
School district 82 had issued a functional closure of the school due to an illness-induced staffing shortage.
Under their most recent Covid guidelines, a functional closure can be issued if a shortage prevents them from providing adequate student safety.
Initially, the closure was only supposed to be in place through Wednesday, but was eventually extended to cover the whole week.
Regular classes and bus runs are set to resume at the school today.
In a release, the District lauded the resilience of their staff, and stressed a focus on personal well-being for everyone during these times.
