Multiple BC environmentalists and Rights lawyers are very happy with a Federal Court’s ruling after the commissioner of the RCMP, Brenda Lucki, was ruled to have violated her legal obligations, by not giving approval to a watchdog report quickly enough.
The report in question, was related to accusations of the RCMP spying on pipeline opponents and Lucki essentially left the report alone for almost 4 years, after it was completed in 2017.
One of the lawyers stated that hopefully this ruling will lead to courtroom responses becoming more meaningful as well as quicker whenever the general public files a complaint against the RCMP.
