Traditional place names have now been officially restored for 12 areas on Haida Gwaii.
Changes will see colonial names removed, and replaced with traditional Haida names, thanks to a two year partnership between the Council of the Haida Nation, and BC Geographical Names Board.
Some of the changes will see the area formerly known as Mission Hill revert back to Íits’aaw, Dal Kún restored as the name of Harrison Point, and Dal Káahlii replace Delkatla Inlet.

According to the Council, they are working to restore another 20 place names in the next inlet, of a continually on-going endeavour.
