New legislation introduced in Ottawa today looks to provide federal employees with more sick days, and criminalize health care interference.
Just two days after BC announced they would be providing all workers with 5 paid sick days per year, Canada has upped the ante.
Bill C-3, introduced by the Liberals today, would give employees in federally regulated industries 10 mandatory days of paid sick leave.
In total, just under one million Canadians work in said industries, and nearly half of them currently have fewer paid sick days.
In addition, the Bill would make it a criminal offence to use intimidation to prevent patients or health care workers from accessing or providing health care services.
If passed, the Bill would also make it a crime for anyone to prevent anyone else from accessing health care services.
