A brand new Avalanche detection should be comforting those traveling to Dease Lake on Highway 37 this winter.
BC’s Transportation Ministry has said that this automated system is able to detect snow slides on the Ningusaw pass, which improves the highway’s reliability.
The Ministry also said that the system includes high definition cameras, radar, and communications equipment that will make it so that the avalanche technicians can monitor slide area in real time.
The system will likely make monitoring BC’s 60 slide areas a lot easier.
