British Columbia is not included in a newly announced Canada-wide vaccine card program… yet.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the new standardized proof of vaccination program today, alongside new travel measures.
Trudeau says his government is working gain acceptance for the new program abroad, but it will immediately provide a secure way to show proof of vaccination across Canada.
As of this moment, BC, Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, Alberta and PEI are not included in the program and may continue to use their provincial proof of vaccination.
However, all of Canada will need to follow the newly announced travel restrictions which take effect on October 30th.
From then on, all passengers aged 12 or older departing Canada, VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer Trains, and non-essential marine vessels for more than 24 hours, will need to be fully vaccinated.
Domestic travel using any of the above methods will also require proof of vaccination, with some accommodations made for rural and remote communities in need of essential services.
Some concessions are also made for partially vaccinated residents, but only until November 30th.
