One company is seeking the input of an Indigenous connected group to advise the next stage of their environmental assessment.
Benchmark Metals is preparing to begin baseline environmental studies on its proposed Lawyers Gold and Silver Mine.
They have selected the Tsay Keh Nay group, who aim to incorporate local and Indigenous knowledge, to complete the studies.
Tsay Keh Nah will conduct seven baseline studies, looking in to: fish habitats and impacts on aquatic life, surface water, other wildlife impacts, noise and air quality, vegetation, and topography.
Benchmark is also working in conjunction with the Tsay Keh Dene, Kwadacha, and Takla Nations, under a recently signed Exploration Cooperation and Benefit Agreement.
The studies will advise an Environmental Assessment readiness decision, expected in 2023.
