One BC MLA is blaming Alberta for his regions low vaccination rates.
Peace River South MLA Mike Bernier is based out of Dawson Creek, where only about 55 percent of residents are double vaccinated.
That compares to the province’s overall rate of nearly 83 percent, and is a stark contrast to the Northwest, though on par with much of the Northeast.
Bernier is now blaming the region’s proximity to Alberta for the dismal rates, calling it the “Alberta Effect”.
The Liberal MLA has been a strong voice in support of vaccines in the community, a stance which, according to him, has led to death threats.
Yesterday, Premier John Horgan complimented Bernier for his efforts to promote vaccinations during a press call.
