Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is continuing his apology tour after skipping out on Truth and Reconciliation Day ceremonies last week.
Trudeau reportedly called Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Chief Rosanne this weekend to apologize for missing invitations to attend their ceremony.
It was Trudeau and his Liberal Government that declared National Truth and Reconciliation Day a national holiday.
This declaration came due to a landslide of events triggered when hundreds of unmarked graves were discovered in Kamloops, the Nation’s territory.
Trudeau was caught heading to Tofino on the Day instead of honouring those he proclaimed the day to honour.
He maintains that he attended a ceremony on Wednesday, and that he was in touch with Residential School survivors throughout the day.
According to the Tk’emlúps, Trudeau was sent two invitations to attend.
