Today, people across Canada, especially the Northwest, will be dawning red to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
Indigenous women in Canada are 12 times as likely to go missing or be murdered as other backgrounds.
In the North that rate is even higher, and the infamous Highway of Tears stands as a solemn reminder of the atrocities committed.
More than two years ago, the Final Report in to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls was submitted to Canada.
It made 231 calls for justice, which have been largely ignored since, never mind enacted.
Today is a day to honour and remember those who survived, and those who did not return home, as well as their loved ones.
By simply wearing a red shirt today, you can show support and play a small part in ensuring they are never forgotten.
