With Covid cases in school aged kids on the rise over the past two weeks, many schools have fallen under regional mask restrictions.
A Provincial Health Order had made wearing a mask mandatory for those in Grades 3 and up, but left younger students out.
Now, the province has changed course and issued a new restriction, applying to all students and staff from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
According to Education Minister Jennifer Whiteside, the restrictions also apply to buses, and while seated at desks.
Whiteside also says that parents of children at risk of Covid exposure will be notified.
In addition, it was announced that school specific Covid reports will begin being released in mid-October.
These announcements attempt to alleviate previous parental concerns over the province’s intent to shift away from a school notification system.
