A group of more than two dozen experts have agreed with the Wet’suwet’en regarding archaeological damage attributed to pipeline projects.
Numerous times over the past few years, the Wet’suwet’en have come forward to accuse Coastal GasLink of performing work on sensitive archaeological sites.
The most recent accusation comes from planned work at the Lamprey Creek worksite.
Now, a group of 25 archaeologists and academics have issued a letter in support of the Wet’suwet’en claim.
According to the letter, the destruction of the archaeological resources could erase the culture associated with the Creek and its landscape.
CGL continues to maintain that they have made efforts to protect artifacts, saying they’ve discovered 21 since work began in 2015.
