A Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chief accused of shooting at a neighbour’s dog reportedly intends to plead guilty.
Chief Na’Moks, also known as John Ridsdale, was accused of drunkenly climbing a fence to shoot a neighbour’s barking dog.
Na’Moks is facing charges of trespassing, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, and killing or injuring an animal.
Maximum penalties for all four charges could fetch jail time of nearly twenty years.
Ridsdale will appear in court on November 4th in Hazelton, a date set by Smithers provincial court this month.
I could pretty much guarantee you will not see him getting almost 20 years in jail with Justin Trudeau. He will be lucky if he gets a few months. Justin Trudeau trashed the minimum sentence, of seven years in prison, for major crimes. That basically means the judge can hand down what ever type of penalty he feels is fit, which might be a hug instead of a real good punishment.
