The Transportation Ministry has some good news, and some bad news for those taking to the roads in BC.
For the first time in over a month, limited access to the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt will be open for essential travel only.
A wildfire raging in the area had been cutting off access to the stretch of road.
Unfortunately, a mudslide has picked up the wildfire slack, blocking off Highway 1 between Lytton and Spences Bridge.
With travel restrictions still in place on Highway 5, this means travelers to or from the southern Interior will need to take Highway 3, though that will also be a smoky drive.
