The B-C Wildfire Service says rain and cooler temperatures in the last day have taken an edge off some of the most aggressive blazes active in the province.
Fire operations manager Todd Nessman says rain fell on some crucial areas experiencing prolonged drought and the forecast this week looks favorable.
He says the reprieve is welcome after winds over the weekend fanned growth at the destructive White Rock Lake fire burning between Kamloops and Okanagan Lake.
But Nessman says there has not been enough rain to reverse the impacts of the very hot and dry spring and summer seasons so far.
