Much of two neighborhoods on the west side of Okanagan Lake have been “significantly damaged” by the massive White Rock Lake wildfire that has scorched more than 620 square kilometres.
The Central Okanagan Regional District says preliminary numbers show 50 to 60 homes were damaged last night in the Killiney Beach and Ewings Landing areas.
That’s in addition to 28 homes and one business that were destroyed in the community of Monte Lake and in the Paxton Valley by the same fire on August 5th.
West Kelowna fire chief Jason Brolund says a “small number of structures” were also damaged not far away by the Mount Law wildfire just hours after it broke out.
