On Monday, March 29, South Cariboo Search and Rescue were notified of an avalanche on Eureka Peak where it was reported one person was dead, Williams Lake RCMP were notified shortly after.
A 37-year-old man was with a group of snowmobilers when the avalanche happened, and sadly the man was buried in the snow. Search and Rescue attended in a helicopter and found the site completely buried and were unable to set down. A transponder was detected and personnel spoke with witnesses.
The body of the man has been recovered. There is nothing suspicious and the B.C. Coroners Services has conduct of the investigation. There is no further information at this time.
