The Kitimat General Hospital Foundation is thanking Rio Tinto for its donation of 23 iPads to Long-Term Care, Assisted Living and Acute Care units in Kitimat, Terrace, Smithers, Burns Lake and Vanderhoof.
The devices have had a very positive impact by reducing feelings of social isolation and improving quality of life for the residents. The completed project was just over $18,000.
The devices are being used for residents to connect with their families and friends through virtual visits.
Martha Flores, a Foundation Member and Care Provider at Mountainview Lodge says in a statement, “During a difficult year, we are truly grateful for such a considerate donation that has made such a positive impact to us here at Mountainview Lodge.”
The iPads are also being used for leisurely activities as well as benefiting staff.
