The B.C. government has announced funding it says will cut forestry waste and create jobs.
The Forest Enhancement Society of B.C. has allocated $3 million in new grants across the province to make use of wood fibre that would otherwise be burnt as slash.
The grants will fund projects to make use of 250,000 cubic metres of post-harvest waste wood for use in pulp, wood pellets, electricity, and compost for soil remediation.
The funding is part of the provincial government’s post-COVID recovery plan.
