The Government of Canada has announced additional funding to help First Nations, Inuit and Metis communities during the pandemic.
Marc Miller, Minister of Indigenous Services has highlighted $1.2 billion in investments made through the Fall Economic Statement. To continue this support, $380 million is being allocated for the Indigenous Community Support Fund. The funding will help ensure that community-led solutions to Covid-19 can continue.
An additional $631.6 million over two years was announced to support a number of measures in communities including, procuring PPE, adapting existing facilities, hiring more staff and providing surge capacity where needed.
There was also $186.8 million announced over two years to support needs and gaps in long-term care facilities.
