The City of Williams Lake is providing local businesses with COVID-19 preparation kits.
The kits include hand sanitizer, masks, door signage, floor decals, and information for businesses requiring support.
The city says so far, more than 100 businesses have received the kits, which were delivered on December 17th and 18th. They’re also available for pick-up locally.
Beth Veenkamp is the economic development officer for Williams Lake, and says while the kits are relatively small, every little bit helps.
She adds, while the pandemic has had an economic impact, the community is rallying around its local businesses.
The city says it will continue to provide the kits into the new year. Williams Lake city council has allocated $100,000 to help small businesses in the community. That funding comes from the $2.8-million the city received from the federal-provincial Safe Restart Fund.
Veenkamp says the city will decide what programs to implement next, once they receive more feedback from the business community.
