The government of B.C. is providing funding for emergency rescue support for rural and remote communities.
The announcement was made in a press release today that $1 million was to be put towards these rural and remote supports. The Office of the Fire Commissioner has partnered with the Fire Chiefs Association of BC to launch the Road Rescue Grant program. This is a one-time grant that organizations in B.C. can apply to for up to $50,000 to fund equipment or train emergency responders in road rescue.
The grant program was created to support B.C. fire departments, fire brigades, fire societies, search and rescue groups and First Nations communities registered by the road rescue program. The deadline for submitting a grant application is noon on December 11. The funding is provided by the Province and is being administered by the Fire Chiefs Association of B.C.
Local highway rescue services are funded through local taxes. You can find more information at the Government of B.C.’s website.
