The Prince Rupert Port Authority recognized for its efforts to protect the environment.

Green Marine has recognized the Port Authority for its environmental performance. Green Marine is a voluntary environmental certification program for the North American marine industry that encourages participants to reduce their environmental footprint.

Some of the environmental criteria that the Port scored highest in is, community impacts, spill prevention, aquatic invasive species, waste management, and environmental leadership. The Port also saw above average results related to greenhouse gases and underwater noise. Averaging a score of 4.5 out of 5 in these categories, well above the North American port average of 2.83.

This also marks the tenth year of the Port’s participation in Green Marine.
