Late in the morning yesterday Prince George RCMP received a report of a three vehicle collision on Highway 97 just north of the Simon Fraser Bridge.
Officers and Emergency crews went to the scene and located two pickup trucks and an ambulance involved in an accident. Three occupants of one of the vehicles fled on foot, but were arrested with the assistance of a Police Dog Service team a short time later.
The initial investigation led officers to believe that a stolen pickup truck was driving through the ditch when it struck the median barricade and then collided with a southbound ambulance. The ambulance was transporting two passengers at the time, alcohol and speed are believed to be factors.
Several persons were injured, however none are believed to be life threatening. The B.C. RCMP’s Impaired Driving Unit is assisting with the investigation. If you have any information about the incident you’re asked to contact Prince George RCMP.
