The province has introduced measures to help enforce rules against large gatherings and parties.
On Friday, police and provincial enforcement officials are being given the ability to issue $2,000 tickets for owners or organizers of large gatherings or parties. Officials will also be able to issue $200 tickets to individuals who are not following the direction of police.
These measures are effective immediately as they’ve been enacted under the provincial state of emergency.
Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General said in a statement, “These orders will help us put a stop to the selfish acts of a small minority of British Columbians, who are threatening to erode the progress our province has made in controlling Covid-19.”
The province is also enlisting compliance from the provincial ministries to support the enforcement and help issue tickets.
