The Government of B.C. is reminding all those in high flood risk areas to take precautions to ensure they’re ready if something happens.
The government remains committed to working alongside local governments and First Nations to keep people safe and minimize damage.
There are things that you can do to protect yourself and your family from flooding including, having a household plan, putting together emergency kits, connecting with neighbours and learning about local government emergency response for your area.
Some of the fastest ways that you can protect yourself include, having a grab and go bag ready if you need to leave on a moments notice, recognizing the potential danger signs if you live near a water way and protecting your home by leaving drains open and moving equipment to higher ground where it’s possible.
People are also advised it is important not to drive through flood water or near areas that risk landslides.
