Cariboo Regional District is advising that there is a temporary reduction in available runway length at the Anahim Lake Airport.
The district has submitted a request to Transport Canada to have this restriction removed. The temporary reduction limits maximum weight for passengers and cargo. Pacific Coast Airlines has taken steps for potentially reduced service levels. An extension section of the runway was closed on Jan 29 at the direction of Transport Canada.
The District has received support from the Ulkatcho First Nation Chief and Council, local RCMP, tourism operator Bella Coola Heli Sports,
and pacific coast Airlines to have the temporary closure dealt with as soon as possible.
