Chetwynd RCMP say a man is missing after an avalanche came down southwest of the community Sunday.
Police received word from the International Emergency Response Coordination Centre of an emergency beacon from the east face of the Murray Mountain range Sunday afternoon.
Officials say a group of snowmobilers was in the area when the slide came down.
RCMP say the area was too risky for searchers to starting combing the area right away.
Search and Rescue, along with RCMP Air Services, and a police dog will search the area when it’s determined to be safe.
