The First Nations Climate Initiative (FNCI) has extended an invitation for all First Nations to meet with them on Jan 29 in Prince George. The meeting will be about the vision that First Nations have for achieving their goals for improving the climate and slowing global warming.
The meeting will tackle a variety of issues including, the cost of implementing renewable energies, what federal and provincial policies will be needed to achieve these goals and at the forefront whether liquefied natural gas plays a legitimate role in the fight against climate change. They will also be exploring the topic of the potential reduction in global green house gases if LNG were used to displace the coal power generation in Asia.
Following the meeting with the broader First Nations, FNCI member Haisla Chief Councillor Crystal Smith will be speaking about the FNCI vision during her closing keynote on Jan 30 at the B.C. Natural Resources Forum in Prince George.
