Hundreds of First Nations Leaders, Elders and Knowledge Keepers, women, youth and other delegates gather for the Assembly of First Nations.
It took place at the Westin Hotel on unceded territory of the Algonquin Nation in Ottawa, Ont. Chiefs and delegates gather under the theme of “Honouring Promises”.
The assembly also honoured Jody Wilson-Raybould for all the work she has done. In a speech made by National Chief, Perry Belgarde he said that there is still much work to be done on the UN Declaration and on other acts and bills.
Wilson-Raybould won as an independent candidate in her riding of Vancouver Granville and continues to advocate for First Nations issues.
