UNBC Faculty association will be suspending pickets as they file a complaint to the labour relations board.
The UNBC Faculty Association will file a bad-faith bargaining complaint against the UNBC administration. The decision comes after two days of intense mediation with Special Mediator Trevor Sones.
“We are disappointed that we have to take this complaint to the Board,” Said UNBC Faculty Association Vice-President Paul Siakaluk. “We hoped the presence of a special mediator and the legal counsel for both parties would lead to a quick resolution of this issue during yesterday’s negotiating session. Unfortunately, that did not happen.”
In response, the UNBC FA Executive decided to file the complaint earlier today before the Labour Relations Board, asking for a ruling that the employer has been found guilty of bargaining in bad faith.
UNBC FA members will be returning to their teaching duties immediately after 4:30 p.m. today. According to Siakaluk they recognize that the application will take a considerable amount of time to be considered.
