Two people are facing charges after a driver twice fled from Quesnel RCMP last Saturday.
Police tried to check on an SUV parked at a Reid Street hardware store around 4:00 a.m. November 23, but the driver turned off the vehicle lights and fled north on Highway 97.
About a half hour later, police found the SUV parked in the middle of Highway 97 near the Cottonwood Bridge, but when RCMP turned on their lights, the driver reversed at a high rate of speed, forcing police to turn to avoid a crash.
The driver crashed into the ditch after driving down a steep embankment and police were able to arrest a 26-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man.
Mounties seized a loaded handgun, methamphetamine, and some stolen property.
The man and woman are expected to appear in court March 10.
