Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Central Coast and other coastal communities.
Forescasters expect an atmospheric river will hit the coast Satuday, bringing with it heavy rain in excess of 100 mm over some areas.
The mild air will result in rain at almost all elevations with runoff and rising river levels likely through the weekend.
In addition to heavy rain, strong winds will also accompany the moisture-laden system, with wind gusts in excess of 90km per hour on Saturday morning.
Environment Canada is urging people to keep an eye on conditions and watch for potential high streamflow advisories or flood watches from the BC River Forecast Centre.
