LNG Canada and its prime contractor JGC Fluor’s are starting a workforce development program for women.
The training program is called Your Place and is aimed at attracting, training, supporting and employing women to work in the construction trades.
More than 1,000 women have already applied including over 300 Indigenous women.
Your Place includes a four week workplace readiness training program and employment supports designed to help women start and succeed in the trades.
Graduates of the program have a direct line to employment in an entry level position as an apprentice with JGC Fluor or one of its subcontractors on the LNG Canada project in Kitimat.
The first scheduled training session will take place between November 12 and December 6 at the Kitimat Valley Institute.
