As of the first quarter of 2019, there were over 20,000 electric vehicles in B.C. That represents almost 5 per cent of all new car sales in B.C.
Charge North is a community led initiative to develop a charging network for electric vehicle travel through B.C. They currently engage with 43 local governments from south Kamloops to Haida Gwaii connecting over 2,780 km of highway.
Upcoming in 2020 they plan to work with B.C Hydro as they plan for new level 3 charging stations along highway 16. A level 3 charging station can charge an electric vehicle in 30 to 40 minutes.
They will also be building 50 level 2 stations at new Charge North locations.
There will also be 4 more B.C. Hydro stations expected in Prince George, Williams Lake, Quesnel and Hixon.
