On November 9, Shane Simpson, Minister of Social Development and Poverty reduction will be hosting an in person session for people with disabilities, their friends and families, accessibility advocates, self-advocates, organizations, experts, businesses and individuals.
Feedback at these sessions around accessibility and inclusion is used to help shape future legislation. Simpson has been working with local governments for better access to buildings and sidewalks.
Simpson says that one of the big issues they have received feedback on is that people with disabilities are struggling to obtain employment.
The B.C. government will be introducing a disability act next year.
