A 22-year-old Quesnel man will appeal his first-degree murder conviction for a 2017 shooting in Yukon.
A jury found Edward Penner guilty of killing 25-year-old Adam Cormack at a gravel pit near Whitehorse over what the jury heard was a fight over a gun.
Penner was convicted in September sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.
Papers arguing the grounds for the conviction were unreasonable were filed with the Yukon Court of Appeal earlier this month.
No date has been set for the appeal.
