Prince George RCMP are warning people to be aware of potential acts of fraud.
RCMP continue to receive many reports of fraud every day the, most popular being the tax fraud. Fraudsters impersonating employees of the Canada Revenue Agency will call or email saying that a payment must be made immediately or an arrest warrant will be issued. The instructions usually involve wiring the money using a wire company or to purchase cash cards and forward the card number and security code to the fraudsters.
Prince George RCMP emphasize that this is a scam and not to fall for it. One of the easy ways to avoid the scam is if you receive a call of this nature to hang up and call the Canada Revenue Service.
