People use who other forms of transportation such as, e-scooters, electric unicycles or Segways will benefit from proposed amendements to the Motor Vehicle Act that was just introduced.
If established the amendments will allow the use of increasingly diverse modes of transportation. These changes clarify how new devices are to be used and will help ensure the safety of everyone who uses roads and sidewalks. The amendments will also allow pilot projects to be established.
Some devices don’t currently fall under the act’s definition of a motor vehicle, cycle or pedestrain which means they aren’t permitted to operate on highways or sidewalks. The amendments will allow governments to address the vehicles that don’t fall under any category and get deemed unauthorized vehicles.
The strategy is part of the government’s CleanBC plan.
