The City of Quesnel has shut down public washrooms near a park citing safety concerns.
It says the washrooms across from Ceal Tingly Park are frequently vandalized, littered with drug paraphernalia, and residual drug substances that are a danger to the public.
The City says it has tried to mitigate the issues, but can no longer provide reasonable assurance for the safety of its workers or the public.
Officials say other public washrooms are located at Spirit Centre, LeBourdais Park and on the Riverfront Trail below Bowron Avenue, as well as the Sugarloaf Dog Park.
