Two planned power outages are taking place Saturday September 14th.
These will impact the Nass Valley all the way up to the District of Stewart. Power goes out at 7 a.m. and will remain off until 7 p.m.
Crews are doing overdue maintenance and upgrades in the Skeena substation. With the maintenance taking place in the station crews will have to turn off the line to accomplish their task safely.
Second outage is to the entire community of Telegraph Creek. Power goes off at 8 a.m. and the estimated restoration time is 11 a.m. Replacing an out of date recloser with a more up to date piece with better capabilities.
Dave Mosure of B.C. Hydro says during the outage to the Nass Valley and the District of Stewart if customers are going to be running a backup generator they must have a CSA approved transfer switch. Otherwise, the generator is capable of feeding power through the home back into the lines and poses a danger to working crews.
