The federal government has announced over $3.2 million to help northern B.C. residents take advantage of job and business development opportunities while promoting reconciliation.
The six projects are expected to create at least 152 jobs, skills training to over 600 people, and expand 367 businesses.
The Metlakatla Development Corporation and Coastal Shellfish Corporation will get $1.25 million to support shellfish grow out and processing commercialization.
The Burns Lake Native Development Corporation will use $123,000 to establish a community-owned, Indigenous driving school in Burns Lake.
The Gitxsan Development Corporation and Gitxsan Safety Services will put $445,000 into a medical and transportation business that services the natural resource sector.
The Haida Gwaii Institute and UBC, Haida Gwaii Community Futures, and Young Entrepreneurship Leadership Launchpad will also receive funding for projects.
