CityWest customers will have to talk to the provincial government to get a refund for a billing error by the company.
In a letter to customers, the telecommunications firms says it realized in January, 2019 that it had mistakenly been charging customers PST for phone features, which are supposed to be exempt from the tax.
CityWest says it stopped charging the tax as soon as it realized the error and has taken steps to help customers get a refund.
The company says the average total refund is about $61 per customer over the course of four years.
According to government regulations, anyone over-charged on PST can only get a credit going back four years from the date they submit proof they were overcharged.
In a statement issued on its Facebook page, CityWest says customers will have to apply directly to the government to get their money back.
The company says it sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers.
