RCMP say another tourist has died after falling in the Robson River.
Mounties say the 53-year-old Chinese man fell into the swift-moving stream while he was walking along the lower section of the Berg Lake Trail Friday, August 9.
His companions couldn’t reach him and his body was recovered about 800 m downstream by rescue technicians.
It’s the same location where a German tourist drowned in June of this year.
The water moves extremely fast in this area of the river and tragedy, such as this, can happen in seconds,
said Cpl Jacob Joslin, Valemount RCMP in a news release. “The RCMP would like to remind people to be extra vigilant when hiking near water.”
The BC Coroners Service has assumed control of the investigation.
