The B.C. government says wildfire rehabilitation efforts continue in Cariboo areas scorched by fires in 2017 and 2018.
The province says forests ministry staff and contractors have been working to address slope instability, fix disrupted drainage patterns, erosion, and clean up fires hazards like wood debris left over from fireguard construction.
The government says it is also replanting trees in burned areas, fixing fences and other infrastructure, and salvaging burned timber.
B.C.’s record-setting fire seasons in 2017 and 2018 burned 2.5 million hectares and caused damage so severe that it may take years to repair.
